Welcome to one of the friendliest campsites in County Durham. It all started in 2013, when owner manager William Price identified a peaceful rural location close to the historic town of Bishop Auckland as the perfect spot in which to realise his lifelong ambition and open a campsite. Meadow Farm welcomed its first campers in 2014 and has been growing ever since. We’ve gone from being an exempted site to one with a full licence and the following facilities. Tent pitches are on grass and pitches for caravans and campervans are on grass or hardstanding. All pitches come with access to a chemical disposal point, drinking water points, electric hook up, toilets, wash hand basins and showers with free hot water. We continue to invest to make improvements and increasing the number of showers and toilets is top priority for 2017.
Our most popular facility may be our fire pits, much appreciated by all three of the categories of guest to whom Will’s special qualities of helpfulness and customer care principally appeal. Families with children praise the flexibility on site, safe atmosphere, open space in which to play games and children love Will’s chickens and geese and collecting fresh eggs in season. Groups who come for birthday and other celebrations praise the relaxed and friendly atmosphere, owners who are around when needed and the log fires.
For tourists, the location provides a wealth of opportunity, including Bishop Auckland is now home to Kynren – see Local Area. You can walk from Meadow Farm to Kynren if you wish, though most of our guests choose to drive there or use a taxi.
Whatever your reason for camping, Meadow Farm will give you a warm welcome.
